Jumla observes a public holiday today. Karnali's provincial government had decided to grant leave on Asoj 22 for the fair in which the lingo pole of Chandannath temple is carried. Provincial government spokesperson and minister Binod Kumar Shah said the holiday applies to Jumla district only. It is one of six additional public holidays Karnali set for 2083. The others are Chaitra 12 (Paddy Day), Shrawan 1 (Saune Sankranti and Deuda festival), Bhadau 4 (Province Establishment and Martyrs' Day) and Kartik 8 (Kojagrat Purnima). For the national Paddy Day on Asar 15, the other nine districts get the holiday, excluding Jumla.
