Hundreds of displaced villagers in Gorkha are seeking safe shelter after Sunday’s flood along the Budhigandaki. Today’s report says more than 200 homes were swept away, up from yesterday’s preliminary count of 45 destroyed. Landslides and floodwater washed away motorable roads and sections of the Manaslu trekking trail, leaving settlements in northern Gorkha isolated. In Soti, Aarughat-3, thick mud filled 20 households and families fled. Ward chair Tek Bahadur Adhikari says the 2015 earthquake had already weakened the settlement and the flood shook its structures again. One mother walked half an hour in the dark with her small children to reach Bhaluwan. Private and army helicopters have flown some tourists to Kathmandu, but many remain stranded. Bishal Ghale of Sirdibas Jagat says he lost both his home and his hotel. Local representatives say the displaced have not received relief materials. Some residents also say official alert messages arrived about an hour after the flood had already surged down the valley.
