The Armed Police Force has rolled out the Special Security Plan for Festivals 2026, effective October 8, covering Dashain, Tihar, Chhath and other festivals. It has deployed 28,126 personnel nationwide and kept 4,500 more on standby. The plan includes 141 public assistance desks, 16 health desks and 13 tourist desks. Ambulance-equipped teams are stationed at 37 points on major highways, and vehicles able to evacuate large numbers of injured people are at 16 locations. Joint patrols, checkpoints and foot and mobile patrols have been stepped up along the border. Sensitive sites are monitored round the clock with 21 drones and 412 CCTV cameras at border crossings.
